Some days remind me exactly why I do what I do. They are filled with connection, joy, and moments so genuine they practically glow in front of the lens.
This was one of those days. It was not just about taking photographs, it was about celebrating friendship, honouring resilience, and capturing the kind of happiness that cannot be staged.

Meeting Jordan Again

Jordan is not just my high school best friend, he is one of those rare people whose energy fills a room before he even says a word.
With a bright, bubbly personality and a voice that could stop you in your tracks, he is an outstanding musician whose talent is matched only by his kindness.

Life has not been without its challenges for Jordan. He lives with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, also known as Brittle Bone Disease, a condition that requires him to use a wheelchair.
But if you think that slows him down, you have never met Jordan. His determination, humour, and zest for life are nothing short of inspiring, and every time I see him, I am reminded of the power of resilience and joy.

The Surprise That Changed Everything

Thanks to my mom’s company, Per Care, and the incredible team at Wheelchairs on the Run, we were able to surprise Jordan with a brand new, heavy duty, all terrain wheelchair.
This was not just any wheelchair, it was designed for comfort, support, and mobility, giving Jordan the freedom to move with ease, especially when performing.

When we rolled it into his home, his reaction was priceless. His eyes lit up, his smile widened, and he could not stop expressing his gratitude.
He had been expecting a replacement wheelchair in four months, but now, he no longer had to struggle with his old one.
It was a moment that reminded me how powerful community and kindness can be.

Music That Moves the Soul

After the surprise, Jordan did what he does best, he sang.
We were treated to a live performance of “Lightning Crashes” by Live, and it was nothing short of breathtaking.
His voice carried the weight of his story, the joy of the moment, and the gratitude he felt.
It was not just a song, it was a testimony of resilience and hope.

As I photographed him, I was not just capturing an image, I was preserving a feeling.
The kind of feeling that makes you stop scrolling, stop rushing, and just be in the moment.
That is the magic of photography, it freezes emotions in time.

Conversations and Laughter

We spent hours catching up, reminiscing about high school, and talking about his music.
We had hoped to have his friends Tara and Seiran join the surprise, but life had other plans.
Still, when Jordan shared the news with them later, their excitement was contagious, and the laughter that followed was the perfect soundtrack to the day.
